Reduce the presence of exosomes and nanoparticles in FBS with HansaBiomed’s tangential flow filtration filters, TFF-EVs

Fetal bovine serum (FBS) is commonly used as a supplement in cell culture media to provide essential nutrients, growth factors and hormones that are required for cell growth and proliferation. However, FBS also contains exosomes and extracellular vesicles that can contaminate the cell-derived vesicle preparation and co-isolate with them during the purification process. Exosome contamination may interfere with downstream applications that require pure exosomes or extracellular vesicles, such as RNA and protein analysis. To avoid exosome contamination from FBS, exosome-depleted FBS should be used.

In our new application note, learn how HansaBiomed’s tangential flow filtration filters, TFF-EVs can be used to remove nanoparticles, including extracellular vesicles from FBS in one single filtration shot, working directly under the safety cabinet.

A simple, fast and inexpensive way to drastically reduce the presence of nanoparticles in FBS, without impacting the cell growth and viability, and by preserving the sterility.
